we found this steel tanker desk on craigslist for $50. it was the original grey color, badly chipped and scratched, and there were dents and the vinyl top was shot. we stripped it down repainted it with a sturdy industrial paint, covered the top in a cool fabric, and were having glass cut for the top also.

this is looking much better. no spanish tiles, no crooked add on roof, just the original slope connecting the main house to the garage.

thats my dad ripping the roof off. we uncovered a complete mess up there, and found that the owner had some pretty amature work done. i think it was the same person that put in that terrible rounded arch.

This is much better already. The roof has a section added on in the middle to connect the house to the garage. This might have to go as well.

I dont really understand when a decision like this is made. Why would you think its ok to put spanish tiles on a house like this??

Bye Bye Arch

i'm not sure who thought it would be a good idea to put a rounded arch on this house, but we ripped it down and rebuilt it to the original style.

Move In

My wife and I stumbled across this cool 60's built home while looking for a new place to live. We've always wanted to be in a 60's house, but never found the right one until now. We're about a half a block from the Balboa Highlands Eichler Trac, and there's more inspiration than we know what to do with. The owner of the house is really nice, but unfortunately, the atomic 60's vibe was lost somewhere along the way.
There will be lots of DIY's and budget builds.
